Welcome

NORFED stands for The Northern Federation of Dive Clubs. It is the last of the Diving federations to exist, come and join us.

I am very sorry to announce the death of Allan Davey, a personal friend and colleague, a founder member of NORFED, a previous Chairman and last years Diver of the Year.
He will be sorely missed by all his friends in NORFED and our sympathies go out to Jean and the family.
Allan’s cremation will be held on Friday 3rd July at 11am at Fixby Crematorium - all will be welcome.
Barbara

NORFED was founded in 1958 shortly after the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC), to promote the interests of northern divers, and also to promote communication between clubs to enable divers to gain experience in shared activities such as Photography, Archaeology, Inter Club Diving and Marine Biology.

NORFED’s  Objectives:
To promote the interests of divers both locally and nationally.
To promote communication between clubs so that divers can enjoy diving with other clubs, visiting different venues, and experiencing various types of diving.

Over the years Norfed has pioneered many diving practices that are now routine in the sport. These include Skill Development Courses, which before the involvement of NORFED could only be found in southern England, Photography and Arcaeology. One of the notable NORFED events was the raising of a Spitfire in the Lake District.

NORFED is run by a small group of volunteers who meet quarterly. These meetings are used to discuss the various aspects of NORFED. Any member may attend the meeting and their views are most welcome. They are also very welcome to stand for election at the AGM.

Widen your horizons by mixing with other British divers by joining NORFED for 2009. Excellent value for only a small annual fee.

Please will all members reading this, send their current email address to John Parkinson so that we can update our communication list. Thank You.
